Minutes of the City Council of
Steele, North Dakota
Held on January 9, 2023
In the Steele Community Building

*Mayor Jon Harter called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM

*Roll Call

Present: Jon Harter, Luke Reski, Bob Anderson, Jason Rutledge, Jorey Kartes,Josh Rode

Also Present: Matt Irish, Norm Fries, Wendlin Rohrich

*Motion by Jason Rutledge, seconded by Bob Anderson to approve the agenda – Motion Carried

*Motion by Bob Anderson, seconded by Jorey Kartes to approve the minutes from the December, 2022 regular meeting (one correction) – Motion Carried

*Motion by Bob Anderson, seconded by Jorey Kartes to approve the reading of the zoning application (Lots 21-24, Block 14 OP, Steele, ND), change from residential to commercial –

Motion Carried The application will be published in the paper and the hearing will be held at 7:00 PM on February 13, 2023.

*Alex Wehrung (Kidder County Deputy) met with the council to discuss an application for a new vehicle for the Kidder County Sheriff Department. The city will not be responsible for any costs, but needs to sign a form to show support for the application.

*Motion by Josh Rode, seconded by Jason Rutledge to agree with the Sales Tax Committee and Lodging Tax Committee to keep the four interstate signs, with the cost shared between the city and Cobblestone (Sales Tax $ 4,000.00, Lodging Tax $ 2,000.00) – Motion Carried

*City employees reported on the water plant, snow removal and equipment repairs.

*Wendlin Rohrich, Steele Police Chief presented the police report. Thank you to the Steele AmVets gaming for the donation to install a computer in the police vehicle.

*The new windows for the community center have arrived. A wall mount electric heater has been installed in the west basement bathroom area of the community center.

*Motion by Luke Reski, seconded by Jorey Kartes to approve the financial report – Motion Carried Checks 14726-14868

PUBLIC NOTICE OF HEARING
To Whom It May Concern:

You are hereby notified that an application has been presented to the City Council of the city of Steele for the Amendment of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Steele. The application requests the following amendment to Zoning Ordinance #169.

Block 14, Lot 21-24, Original Plot, City of Steele

Change Zone from residential to commercial

The Steele City Council will hold a public hearing on Feburary 13, 2023 at 7:00PM at the City Hall to hear evidence for or against said petition and to approve or disapprove said petition.
