Active Seniors Club "The Little Engine That Could"

It's kind of like that age-old question, "Which was created first, the chicken or the egg?" So, this is the story of the chicken (hereby referred to as the Active Senior Center).
It seems that, back in 1990, the one and only senior group in Steele at the time, The Golden Age Club, was approached by Pat Randall, the Kidder County Senior Services Director, and Edna Schultz, and outreach worker with the Kidder County Community Action Agency, concerning sponsorship of a senior center for Steele. And available building, owned by Ove Lunde (Karen Arnold's father), formerly housed the ASCS office. Although everyone agreed it would be great to have theor own building for meetings and function, some of the members (Chicken Little of "The Sky is Falling" fame) pooh-poohed the idea, claiming the money could never be raised, it was too much work for them to handle, etc., etc. Despite their comrads' objections, a group from the Golden Age Club felt they could make it work, and set about getting the job done with a gusto (the chicken now engineers the little train engine who puffed "I think I can, I think I can) that would make the average 10 yr. old tired.
